TalkxIloilo with Ken Lerona – Learn About Marketing and PR

The fourth day of March this year – Saturday – marked the first leg of TalkxIloilo with Mr. Ken Lerona held at Bluejay Coffee & Co. Ayala Technohub, Iloilo participated by students, bloggers, practitioners, business owners, his classmates, and his friends!

“TalkxIloilo is a free conversation on PR and Marketing with bloggers, practitioners, teachers, and students who are interested and are passionate about these subjects.” – Ken

Let me highlight some of the notable insights from the talk.

Virality is a big business.” – As the world of business expands and evolves, platforms for marketing and PR also run the pace. And we cannot deny that digital marketing is the future of it all – yet without disregarding traditional marketing.

Brand is a promise.” – Sir Ken passionately expressed that brand is a promise of who you are and what your customer can expect from you. It is a symbol of commitment to the customer.

PR is a long-term relationship of good will.” – More than a one-time sales transaction from a customer, PR should be a sustainable relationship. It should cater connections and engagements from the target market.

Three important skills to be a good marketer – (1) a good marketer is a good listener, (2) a good marketer is a good listener, (3) a good marketer is a good listener.” That says it all. A marketer should know the target market and address its demand. The best way to do that is by listening to their cry.

As strongly believed by Sir Ken, Iloilo is a breeding ground of the best marketers there can be in the country. Ilonggo is a unique kind of breed. This is the reason why this talk is conceptualized and made into a reality. As much as he supports the city’s growth in terms of business marketing and PR, I also share the same passion as to promoting the good of our city.

To sum up my experience at the talk, it was a fusion of a fun and a transformative session on marketing and PR. And Simply Weekend is grateful to be part of that session.

Congratulations to Mr Ken Lerona for a successful event!
