Patnongon

Members of the Patnongon Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PMPC) were all smiles and excited for the launching and inauguration of the Shared Service Facility (SSF) for Animal and Livestock Feed Production at Brgy. Magsaysay in Patnongon, Antique.

PMPC Chairperson Antonieta B. Crianza said that this is the cooperative’s first engagement in a government project. The government has reached out to the community and addressed their needs by putting up the facility.

The PMPC is the co-operator of the P900,000 worth of machineries and equipment under the SSF Program of the DTI, and funded through the efforts of Deputy Speaker Loren B, Legarda.

On Thursday, DTI VI Industry Development Division Chief Ma. Dinda R. Tamayo and DTI Antique Provincial Director Mercedes A. Young together with Patnongon Mayor Evohn Nee B. Baldestamon, PMPC Officers and members, among others led the launching of the SSF.

The DTI provided machineries and equipment comprising of one unit of horizontal mixer with accessories, one unit of hammer mill, two units of platform weighing scales and two units of bag closer.

Mayor Baldestamon commended the agency’s efforts of establishing the facility, especially with the presence of a Negosyo Center in Patnongon that provided opportunities to small entrepreneurs to register their business names, and eventually securing business permits.

PMPC Manager Anecar M. Vera Cruz said that the facility will give swine growers “fresh, excellent and affordable feeds for livestock,” and to have a stable market and farm gate price for their corn farmers.

Aside from the facility, the DTI will likewise provide mentoring to the cooperative on the operation of the feed mill, while the Department of Agriculture will provide effective technology for crop and livestock production.
