KAAGAPAY SA KALINGA: Bell-Kenz Pharma Brings Lifesaving Sagip CPR Training to LTO Frontliners

QUEZON CITY, Philippines — What began as simple curiosity turned into a life-changing experience for employees of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) during the Sagip CPR Training conducted by Bell-Kenz Pharma on April 20 at the LTO Licensing Center, East Avenue, Quezon City.

Bringing together participants from various LTO offices, the training quickly evolved beyond a routine learning session. It became a meaningful initiative centered on preparedness, awareness, and the ability to respond when every second counts.

Many attendees initially raised common concerns such as experiencing palpitations even while at rest—often associated with fatigue, stress, extreme heat, or high caffeine intake.  These everyday symptoms sparked meaningful discussions on the importance of health awareness, regular monitoring, and timely consultation with healthcare professionals, especially when symptoms become persistent or recurrent.

The training also clarified critical distinctions between medical emergencies. Participants learned that cardiac arrest—which requires immediate CPR—is fundamentally different from a hemorrhagic stroke, a condition caused by bleeding in the brain and often presenting as a sudden, severe headache. In such cases, CPR is not the appropriate response, underscoring the importance of accurate knowledge and proper action during life-threatening situations.

For some participants, the training carried deeply personal significance.

Ms. Ruby Dina Bersola from the Custodial and Releasing Section shared her family’s history of hemorrhagic stroke and cardiac arrest, serving as a powerful reminder of how sudden and unpredictable health emergencies can be. Meanwhile, Ms. Agnes Ganzon of the Data Control Unit emphasized the importance of early symptom recognition and immediate response in any medical emergency. “Napaka-significant kasi minutes lang ‘yan—pwedeng mawala,” she said, highlighting how every second counts in critical situations and the need for swift medical intervention and proper transport to the hospital.

For Mr. Jualito Villamar Jr., Traffic Aide II at the LTO Central Office, the training proved highly valuable in strengthening on-ground readiness. “Napakalaking bagay na matutunan namin itong skills na ito. Sa field namin, importante na handa kami. Kapag may emergency sa labas, makakapag-response kami ng maayos,” he shared.

Through Sagip CPR, Bell-Kenz Pharma continues to uphold its mission as a true “Kaagapay sa Kalinga”—equipping communities and frontliners not only with essential life-saving knowledge but also with the confidence to act decisively when it matters most.

Because in emergencies, presence alone is not enough—it is preparedness that saves lives.
