MORE Power Employees Compete In First Aid Olympics

Various teams of More Power are deployed every day in Iloilo City to respond to calls from consumers or at times meet the day’s maintenance task.

Working with live electric wires, several meters above the ground is not for the faint of heart.

Despite all these, MORE Power employees was able to achieve 2 Million Safe man hours in 5 years.

This means, the company was able to operate without any of its employees suffering from injuries while on the job.

This is not an easy feat if there is not enough training among its workers. One can say, there is no other preparation for these dangerous tasks but constant training. Especially in Occupational First Aid Training.

To gauge their abilities, the power company held its First Aid Olympics for the first time. This is in partnership with Philippine Red Cross Iloilo Chapter.

“We have other first aid activities with other companies but nami gid because we establish kung baga we start this activity sa inyo because not only will it prepare you as a first aider here in your company, but it will prepare you sa inyo company nga makabulig man sa inyo community especially sa inyo panimalay,” says Maribel Rojas Salazar, Emergency Medical Technician Phil Red Cross.

Almost every month, MORE Power is conducting OFAT. Through this, the employees are regularly reminded and educated on safety. During emergencies, these become handy so they could help when needed.

The Olympics has its own set of judges to objectively rate how they respond to certain emergencies and injuries.

Always ang taga MORE ready to serve aside from that, what’s really important is the celebration of our 2 million safe man hours,” says Daphnie Karina De Pedro, AVP Human Capital Management.

This activity is in part of the anniversary celebration of MORE Power and its recent achievement of reaching 2 Million Safe Man Hours.
