Iloilo City hosts to the much-anticipated India Business Roadshow, an event showcasing the great potential for economic partnerships between India and the Philippines. On May 31, 2023, the roadshow took place at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel, bringing together business leaders, government officials, and entrepreneurs from both nations to explore collaboration and investment opportunities.
Organized by the Embassy of India in the Philippines in collaboration with the Province and City of Iloilo and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Iloilo Chapter, the event aimed to strengthen the trade and investment ties between India and the Philippines, creating new prospects for growth and development.
The India Business Roadshow featured a diverse range of sectors and industries, highlighting India’s strengths in information technology, pharmaceuticals, engineering, agriculture, automotive, waste water management, renewable energy, and tourism. More than 20 Indian companies representing various sectors participated in the roadshow, enthusiastically showcasing their products, services, and technologies.

Attended by government officials and dignitaries from both countries, His Excellency Shambhu S. Kumaran, the Ambassador of India to the Philippines, delivered a keynote address emphasizing the significance of bilateral cooperation and the shared commitment to economic growth and prosperity.
In his speech, Ambassador Kumaran stated, “India and the Philippines have a long history of cultural and economic ties. The India Business Roadshow aims to build upon that foundation and elevate our partnership to new levels. By leveraging each other’s strengths and expertise, we can unlock trade and investment opportunities.”
The roadshow featured presentations where Indian and Filipino entrepreneurs engaged in fruitful conversations and explored potential business collaborations. Indian companies provided insights into their respective industries, highlighting the benefits of partnership and investment opportunities available in India.
“India and the Philippines share two common factors: demography and democracy. Both our countries are young and full of potential to grow stronger as nations. We also operate businesses within a democratic system,” emphasized Ambassador Kumaran.

Several Indian companies expressed their interest in investing in Iloilo and exploring joint ventures with Ilonggo counterparts. Similarly, Ilonggo entrepreneurs saw the roadshow as an opportunity to expand their businesses and access the vast Indian market.
