Iloilo City ushers in Chinese New Year 2026 with a vibrant and meaningful celebration anchored on the theme “Harmony in Radiance,” happening on February 15–21, 2026.
This year’s festivities are hosted by Sun Yat Sen High School of Iloilo in collaboration with Hua Siong College of Iloilo, Iloilo Scholastic Academy, and Ateneo de Iloilo. Sun Yat Sen High School’s role as host comes on the heels of its 100th Foundation anniversary last year, reaffirming its legacy as a pillar of Chinese-Filipino education in Iloilo. As the institution marks its centennial milestone and returns as host, it reminds Ilonggos of a heritage that continues to shape the future. What began in 2003 has since grown into a cherished tradition that endures across generations.
The theme “Harmony in Radiance” embodies the light, energy, and togetherness that define Iloilo City. It reflects the enduring unity, shared heritage, and collective contributions of the Chinese community in helping build a more progressive and culturally enriched city.
The festivities officially kick off on February 15 with a Mass at Sta. Maria Parish Church, launching a week-long series of cultural events, performances, and community activities designed to showcase the rich Chinese heritage and its vibrant presence in Iloilo.

The celebration’s highlights take place on February 20 with the much-anticipated Chinese New Year Parade along the Iloilo City downtown area and the Grand Cultural Show at the Freedom Grandstand. The parade, starting at 4 PM, will feature colorful floats, traditional lion and dragon dances, school delegations, cultural performers, and community organizations in a dynamic display of unity and prosperity. The Grand Cultural Show follows at 5 PM, presenting a curated showcase of traditional and contemporary performances symbolizing good fortune, harmony, and hope for the year ahead.

Adding to the festive spirit, a series of mall shows will be held in the days leading up to the main celebration. Hosted by participating schools, these performances aim to bring the joy and traditions of Chinese New Year closer to the public, making the celebration more accessible and inclusive for Ilonggo families and visitors.

The success of Chinese New Year 2026 in Iloilo City is made possible through the generous support and collaboration of valued partners and sponsors: Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc., Iloilo City Government, Cable Star, Iloilo Business Park, and Sta. Barbara Heights, with SM City Iloilo and Festive Walk Iloilo serving as co-presenters.
For over two decades, Iloilo’s Chinese New Year celebration—considered the biggest outside Manila—has brought together Ilonggos and the Filipino-Chinese community in a shared story of friendship, unity, and cultural pride. Through this collaborative effort, Chinese New Year 2026 stands as a testament to Iloilo City’s multicultural identity—a city where traditions are honored, partnerships are strengthened, and communities shine brighter together.
