Affordable Online LTE Smartphones Best for Globe LTE Sim Cards

Globe Reduces Environmental Impact thru Mobile Services

The accessibility of smartphones has made it easier to adapt to a digital lifestyle. Digital consumption continues to expand as more and more people are browsing social media, using mobile apps, and watching online videos as part of their everyday life. Buying groceries, booking a laundry service, and monitoring your expenses are just some of the activities that can already be done online these days. With constant innovation, more features are expected to be developed in the future.

There are an estimated 76 million internet users in the Philippines or 71% of the total population (Digital in 2018, We Are Social and Hootsuite).  Moreover, in 2018, the data traffic of Globe grew by 59% compared to 2017*.

There is an LTE smartphone for every digital user. Budget is one consideration, and the availability of flexible pricing enables more people to own one. There are also varying features to consider, from the basics such as a camera, to sophisticated ones like facial recognition. There is an LTE smartphone that matches one’s level of digital fluency.

More importantly, these digital experiences are made better with LTE-capable smartphones that work best with Globe LTE SIM cards compared to the obsolete and old 3G SIM cards. They enable customers to enjoy the benefits of having a digital lifestyle. Having an LTE smartphone and an LTE SIM makes downloading a favorite game, movie, or pictures easier and faster. It also lets them download and store bigger files, giving more games or movies to enjoy.

Check out the latest affordable LTE capable phones at shop.globe.com.ph., Lazada and Shopee.  You can also have your  old SIM cards upgraded to LTE for free at any Globe store. It is a fast and convenient way to make the most out of your digital experience.

Smart Powers Iloilo City Festival 2020

Smart Iloilo City

Festival goers and tourists can explore this year’s celebration more with the Philippines’ fastest mobile network Smart Communications, Inc (Smart). With an extensive LTE network and data offers that are designed for social media apps, locals and guests can share the sights and sounds as they participate in the various on-ground activities in and around Iloilo City.

As co-presenter this year, Smart has also teamed up with the local government to serve the digital needs of the festivalgoers, locals and organizers. This includes providing super speed connectivity via Smart WiFi in all judging areas of the festival, particularly in the areas of the Freedom Grandstand, Iznart-Solis Street, Valeria-Ledesma Street, and Ma. Clara during the weeklong festivities.

Revelers are also invited to join more of the festivities happening on January 24 and 25 at the Viva Music Festival and on Jan 25 for the TNT Concert Night. To level up their festival experiences, Smart and TNT customers are encouraged to upgrade their SIMs and devices to LTE, and register to Giga Stories, which includes free Instagram and Facebook access—making it easier for them to share more of their festival stories.

Travel Smart

Visitors can also explore top tourist spots using the Iloilo digital guide apps powered by Smart. As part of the telco company’s #TravelSmart Digital tourism campaign, these apps feature places to visit, restaurants to try out, heritage information, cultural trivia, and local emergency numbers. In line with the PLDT group’s sustainability efforts, Smart is also installing environmentally friendly merchandising and promotional materials and has committed to work closely with the local governments overseeing the festivals in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, in the proper disposal of these materials.

Nationwidest Network

Underpinning Smart’s network deployment is the continued expansion of PLDT’s fiber infrastructure, which grew by 26% versus end-2018 to more than 307,000 kilometers nationwide. This unmatched fiber infrastructure is a critical advantage for Smart. For this level of performance, Smart has been cited by independent analytics firms for providing superior network quality.

According to Opensignal, Smart provides the country’s Best Video Experience, Download Speed Experience, Upload Speed Experience and Latency Experience, and provides superior 4G/LTE availability across the country. Meanwhile, Ookla, the global leader in internet testing and analysis, also found that PLDT and Smart delivered the country’s fastest fixed and mobile data speeds for the first half of 2019, as they continued to widen their respective leads over their competitors.

The sustained improvement of the PLDT-Smart network has been supported by a stepped-up capital expenditures program that includes investments in network and IT systems, including investments in increased LTE coverage and capacity, expanded fiber transport and new international cable networks.

Globe to Consumers: Mobile Services to Reduce Environmental Impact

Globe Reduces Environmental Impact thru Mobile Services

Globe Telecom encourages consumers to take steps in reducing their environmental impact by using their mobile devices to access health, financial, educational,  entertainment, retail, food, and other services to minimize travel.

Petroleum-fed vehicles are one of the largest sources of carbon emissions in many cities around the world.  Every time a person rides a bus, car, motorcycle, ship, airplane or similar modes of transportation that does not use green energy contributes to greenhouse gas production.

“Mobile technology has given consumers the power to accomplish a lot of things literally at their fingertips. Through mobile phones, we can pay our bills, visit the doctor, go to the bank, buy food, go to school, shop for clothes, among other things.  By going digital, we could lessen our contribution to greenhouse gas emission and assist in healing our planet,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability Officer and SVP for Corporate Communications.

One of the services that many Filipinos have yet to try but which can help save a lot of time, effort, and money is telehealth.  KonsultaMD, for instance, gives the public immediate access to a team of skilled and licensed Filipino doctors anytime they need it, whenever they may be.

By calling KonsultaMD’s 24/7 hotline (02-7798 8000), anyone may seek medical information through the phone for primary conditions (such as cough, fever, cold, flu, pink eye/sore eyes, sinus infections, urinary tract infections, bronchitis, rashes, allergies, asthma), maternity, pediatrics, among others; telephone triage to determine urgency of the situation; reading of, and information on, lab and diagnostic results; health coaching and nutrition counseling; and prescription for over-the-counter medication.

On the other hand, the public may also benefit from the ease of use of mobile money.  While digital finance was intended primarily to promote financial inclusion especially among those who are unbanked, it has started to grow in the Philippines and is fast becoming part of the Filipino lifestyle.

Online financial platforms like GCash allow people to send money to another GCash user, buy load, transfer money to a bank and vice versa, pay bills, pay for goods and services, get a loan, invest, save money and even help rebuild the Philippine forests without travelling since everything can be done through the app.

“Mobile operators around the world are doing their best to reduce the impact of climate change through various innovations.  We at Globe continue to look for ways to reduce our own carbon footprint while helping consumers, businesses, and industries do the same by using mobile technologies,” Crisanto said.

Globe actively supports 10 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)  and combines innovation with the power of collaboration to achieve inclusive and sustainable development for all.
